2024 CCDA Annual Virtual Conference: CALL FOR PROPOSALS


Conference Theme & Topic Areas

The California Career Development Association is now accepting proposals for the Annual 2024 Conference (Friday, May 10th, 2024), entitled: Harmony in Progress: Nurturing Mental Health, Career Growth, and Life Balance


We seek presenters who can provide attendees with information, resources, and strategies for working with clients in various career stages. Some examples of topics we would like to cover are as follows:

*Impact of COVID-19 on Career Development

*Dignity, Justice, and Empowerment

*Counseling strategies 

*Effective assessment tools

*Organizational/Workplace planning

*Workplace readiness

*Supporting transitions in the workforce

*Job and career prospects

*Leadership styles 

*Views on meaningful employment 

*Talent Acquisition & Employee Engagement

*Career Development Theory & Research

*Generational diversity impact and benefits

*Local and State community resources

*Characteristics & Strategies for Educating Students

*Supporting cross-cultural transitions

*Integration of Technologies in Career Development 

*Training and professional development of career development professionals

*Mentoring in career development

*Online Career development curriculum

*The VUCA (Volatile/Uncertain/Changing/Ambiguous) environment and career development

Target Audience

All program material should be designed to provide learning and development experience to career counselors, career development practitioners, and specialists. These professionals work in colleges, private practice, schools, business and industry, community services, workforce, corrections, One-Stop centers, agencies, and government. They call themselves counselor educators, career center staff, coaches, career development facilitators (CDFs), rehabilitation counselors, consultants, transition specialists, managers, labor market and employment specialists, and school counselors and administrators.

Proposal Deadline: Midnight PST on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024. Submissions will not be reviewed past this time unless otherwise stated by CCDA on the website. 

Proposal Selection Process: The CCDA Conference Program Committee will review all proposals. Final decisions will be based on quality, target audience, and relevance to the conference theme. Presenters will be notified via email of acceptance or rejection of the proposal by February 9, 2024. If you do not receive email notification of your proposal's acceptance or decline from CCDA by February 9, 2024, please contact Conference Planning Committee Chair, Edna Davoudi at edavoudi1@gmail.com

Registration Deadline: All presenters are required to register for the CCDA Regional Conference. The registration deadline for all presenters is Friday, March 15, 2024. Failure to register by the deadline may result in the cancellation of your program.  Please note presenters receive a discounted rate of $35 to attend the conference.

Proposal Evaluation

Each program proposal will be evaluated on the following criteria:

1. Demonstrates "best practice(s)" in career development

2. Relevant and timely to conference topic areas

3. Overall appeal of program content

4. Well-articulated presentation of program content 

5. Addresses Conference Topic Areas (see above)


Technical Platform and Requirements

Zoom Meeting platform will be utilized for this Virtual Conference.  Presenters must have their own computer equipment and be comfortable sharing screens/presentations, etc., on the platform. The default setting will be to record all meetings; please let us know if you would prefer to opt out of this option in the submission form.

Internet Access 

Presenters must have their own reliable internet connection. 

Handouts

Presenters are responsible for providing presentation materials, including slides and handouts, to the committee by Friday, April 12, 2024, for Program Planning and for posting on the CCDA website. 

Completing the CFP

Proposals and presentations should reference relevant literature and career development publications as applicable. Please limit your submission to the allotted space or the specific number of characters/words. Any additional verbiage will not be included for the reviewers. Please review the Call for Proposals information thoroughly before submitting your proposal to ensure you and your presenters agree with all requirements. 

By submitting the application, you are acknowledging agreement with the following terms:

  • I understand that I, and all other presenters participating in my program's delivery, must register for the CCDA Regional Conference and pay the appropriate conference fee(s) by Friday, March 15, 2024.
  • I understand that I am responsible for having my own laptop and internet connection.

  • I understand and commit to presenting the specified program content outlined in this proposal. 

  • I understand that I must provide presentation materials, including PowerPoint and handouts, to the Professional Development Committee by Friday, April 12 2024.

  • Should my content include available resources for sale, I understand I cannot sell items during a presentation or on the premises except at exhibit booth space that I have purchased or been granted access to by CCDA. 

  • I understand and adhere to all of the above, and should I not comply with any portion of this statement, CCDA has the right to cancel my program immediately.
