President

Dr. Cheryl Love

Cheryl Love, Ph.D. is President for CCDA for 2022-23.  She serves as a Career Specialist for the Career Specialist for the Arts, Humanities, Education & Public Policy at the University of California, Riverside and is Adjunct Faculty for the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership at Cal Poly Pomona.  Dr. Love has 40+ years of experience as a Counselor and Teacher in all four Higher Education systems in California (UC, CSU, Private and Community) as well as the Public School and Non-Profit sector. This breadth of experience has provided her with the knowledge and skills to work with diverse student populations to assist them with identifying their career goals. She has a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Service Credential from California State University, Fullerton and a Doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Counseling.  She serves as the Co-Chair of the National Career Development Association (NCDA) Committee on Diversity Initiatives and Cultural Inclusion and is on the Planning Committee for the annual Global Conference for NCDA for 2023.  She also serves on the Board of Enhearten as the Vice-president of the organization that works with unseen leaders here and abroad to help them reach their full potential and make a positive impact in their communities.

Dr. Heather Zeng


Heather Zeng, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, NCC (C), CCC, BC-TMH has experience in career development counseling, career education policy at the State level, and assessment training/implementation for the 4th largest school district in the U.S. She is an instructor and tireless student advocate in the area of counseling and career development. She has written on topics of international human resource development, ethical and legal issues in coaching, counseling and technology, online collaboration, workplace bullying, and job promotion. She has found in her work the vital question not of "What do you do?" rather "Who are you?" as central helping clients (and students) in their career development.

Shelby McIntyre

Shelby McIntyre is a Career & Academic Counselor at Glendale Community College and Cypress College, and NCDA Certified Career Counselor. She earned her M.S. Counseling, College Counseling & Student Services from California State University, Northridge, and a B.A. in Cinema Studies, minors in Creative Writing & Music, from the University of Oregon. After experiencing her own career change from the film industry to the counseling profession, she is passionate about helping others navigate their career development process to find meaningful work. Her professional passions and interests include social justice, civic engagement, bystander intervention, and student leadership.

Robyn Kurland 

Robyn Kurland (she/her) is an Advisor for the School of Pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco. In that role, she counsels doctoral students on their academic, professional, and personal development and growth. She earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a specialization in Career Counseling, from San Francisco State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Sociology from Union College. She approaches advising holistically and integrates her social justice advocacy and strengths-based approach in her work to help students build their self-efficacy.

Markell Morris

Markell R. Morris is the CEO of Futures In Motion, Inc., helping people reclaim their careers after loss and personal challenges.  She is a national certified counselor, and adjunct career/academic counselor at Santa Monica College and Cypress College. Markell has a Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Carrie McKnight


Carrie McKnight is a Career Counselor at San Jose State University Career Center. She is a Past-President of CCDA and has served on the Board for several years in various roles. Carrie has assisted with planning CCDA’s regional conferences and organizes local chapter events in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

Jonae Watts

Jonae Watts has been a Senior Employment Specialist working for People Assisting the Homeless (PATH), the largest homeless agency in the State of California, for over 12 years. Her responsibilities are not geographically bound. Therefore, she can be found throughout Los Angeles County, collaborating with various Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, City and County America’s Job Centers, community colleges, and government agencies to assist homeless families and veterans obtain sustainable employment.

Jonae has personally and professionally taken her role to higher heights by focusing on fusing housing initiatives and workforce, labor, career development, combining mental or physical disabilities, and integrating evidence-based employment models. She is a motivating advocate with a ton of passion and a voice for those experiencing homelessness as she shares her platform and successes in the field by illustrating how “fusing Housing First combined with career development leads to a sustainable income.”

Ms. Watts holds professional certifications, including Certified Workforce Development Professional (National Association of Workforce Development Professionals); Global Career Development Facilitator (National Career Development Association); Certified Career Services Provider (NCDA); Individual Placement and Support Professional (Dartmouth Institute); and LA Youth at Work Facilitator (Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce). In addition, she has received several awards for her tireless commitment to working with homeless families.

Larissa Bates 

Larissa Bates is currently serving as the Career Counselor for Business, Financial Services, and Logistics at the San Jose State University Career Center. Larissa holds a B.A. in Psychology from University of California Santa Cruz and is a San Jose State University alumna with an M.A. in Education, Concentration in Counseling and Student Personnel. Larissa is passionate about helping others achieve success and has practiced this throughout her professional career. She currently serves on the CCDA - California Career Development Association General Board as a part of the Membership team.

Kristen Roberts 

Kristen Roberts is a Career Specialist at the University of California, Riverside Career Center. She earned her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern University and B.A. in Chemistry from Illinois Wesleyan University. She is passionate about supporting students holistically in order to help them make intentional and informed career decisions.

Dr. Maria Chaidez

Maria J. Chaidez is an Associate Professor of Counseling at Santiago Canyon College.  Maria is a first-generation college student who proudly began her higher education journey at a California community college.  Maria has taught several career development courses and is certified to interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory.  Maria holds her Associate of Arts degree from Fullerton College, she then transferred to California State University, Fullerton to earn her Bachelor of Science in Human Services.  Maria went on to attend the University of La Verne to earn her Masters of Science in Counseling: Concentration in College Counseling and Student Services, and recently earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from California State University, Long Beach.  Maria is devoted to her role as an educator and is enthusiastic in supporting all students as they realize their career goals.

Dr. Daniel Greenwood

Dr. Greenwood is CEO of Greenwood Associates, Inc. a career counseling group and purveyors of the Greenwood System™ a holistic career counseling assessment, report, and counseling model. Dr. Greenwood has over 30 years experience as an educator and career counselor having received his doctorate in education from the Curry School of Education, University of Virginia. Dr. Greenwood conducts private career counseling for clients of all ages and abilities. Dr. Greenwood also trains counselors in the Greenwood System™ and supports career counselors in private practice and at educational institutions, special needs young adult programs, therapeutic boarding schools, wilderness programs, and residential treatment centers.

Edna Davoudi 

Edna is an experienced higher education leader with over 18 years of experience in career education, student affairs, and higher education administration.  Having served in many different leadership roles in multiple colleges and universities, she has discovered a strong passion for helping college students and ensuring a smooth, efficient, and successful university operational system.  She has a true passion for helping people find their career path!
Edna has built and led teams of up to 50 direct subordinates and over 500 indirect subordinates and is a strong believer of collaboration and communication in the workplace.  She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University and a Master’s in Counseling and Guidance for College Student Personnel from California Lutheran University. Edna is also an adjunct faculty at Pepperdine University when she teaches career development courses.
Edna is an avid learner who loves to read, continue to expand her knowledge and keep growing every day.  As a Southern California resident, Edna, her husband, 2 children and Labrador Retriever enjoy soccer, dance, reading, hiking, camping and more.

Sanaz Nabati

Sanaz Nabati is an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Education and Development at University of California, Los Angeles, serving Students with Disabilities and International Students. She also serves as a Pre-Law Advisor. Sanaz is a double Alumnus of California State University Northridge, with a B.S. in Psychology and an M.S. in Career Counseling. After experience in industry working in real estate management, she found her passion in career development helping college students and career changers to identify, prepare, and pursue their ideal profession while optimizing their career success. Her passion for learning, professional development, and advancement in career development makes her an ideal career coach for students and career changers. She thrives in helping her clients reach their career milestones and endeavors.

Bonnie McCreary

Bonnie L. McCreary is a Sr. Career Development Consultant for Ben Hudnell Memorial Trust. Her clients are represented by Kaiser Permanente employees throughout the Northern California Region. Bonnie's background encompasses over two decades of private industry experience in corporate and private practice utilizing her talents in corporate recruitment consulting, talent acquisition, and leadership and talent management coaching. Bonnie holds complementary credentials and education, including certification as Leadership and Talent Management Coach, a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Leadership Development, a Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resource Management, and post-graduate studies Industrial & Organizational Psychology. From being the first female in her family to earn a college degree to take on the challenges and opportunities to navigating corporate landscapes, as a woman of color; Bonnie is a passionate advocate for culturally- sensitive career management services and opportunities at every level of an organization and in private practices. 



School Career Counselors

Christina Rogers

Christina is a private practice career counselor and K-12 school counselor based in Sacramento, CA. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at Oregon State University, and she hopes to be done with the dissertation process in late 2022. Christina received her MS in Career Counseling from Sacramento State in 2007 and the Pupil Personnel Services Credential in 2015. Since 2010 she has served as an adjunct instructor teaching graduate counseling courses in the school and career counseling specializations at University of San Francisco, Brandman University, Sacramento State, and Oregon State University. Christina’s portfolio also includes curriculum development (in class, and online), career development trainer, and serving as an Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) clinician to home-schooled students.




Higher Education Career Counselor & Specialists Chair

Cherrie Peters

 Cherrie Peters is a Career Counselor at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She holds a master’s degree in Psychology and has served in various career center roles for several years prior to the career counseling role. Cherrie has been instrumental in focusing efforts as Coordinator of the Peer Advisor program and developed a streamlined approach to resume and cover letter writing for Drop-in Advising.  Prior to the counselor role, Cherrie was Lead Administrator for the center, focusing on budget forecasting and reconciliation, part of multiple hiring committees both student and staff roles, emergency services building marshal, and currently holds certifications for Inside Track Student Coaching, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory and Strengths.



Counselor Educators & Supervisors Chair

Dr. Elif Balin

Dr. Elif Balin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling at San Francisco State University, where she teaches career counseling and counseling process courses. Elif is also the coordinator of the Career Counseling specialization program. In her research, service, and counseling practices, she strives to integrate transnational feminist, strengths-based, and social-justice-oriented approaches to support the critical connection between mental health and career development, especially for international college students, recent immigrants, and refugees. 



Graduate Students Chair

Dr. Anne Chan

Anne Chan, Ph.D., has over 20 years of experience as a career counselor and a psychotherapist helping people optimize happiness in their careers and personal lives. Her research, writing, and practice interests include mentoring, diversity, and cross-cultural issues in professional relationships. She earned her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Stanford University. She also holds two Master’s degrees, one in English from the University of Washington in Seattle, and one in Counseling Psychology from California State University, East Bay. She has held a variety of roles in the counseling field, including being an academic counselor at community colleges, adjunct instructor for undergraduates and graduates, and psychotherapist at nonprofit, community, and private practice settings. She has authored a book on mentoring as well as numerous research articles on diversity, mentoring and career counseling.

Kegan Barroso 

Kegan Barroso has been a Career Counselor and Coach for Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust for over 6 years, helping healthcare workers complete their career goals. Kegan was CCDA's Secretary for 2020 - 2022 board term and she continues to work with CCDA as an Administrator. She received her Masters in Educational Counseling in 2015 and is a Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP). She helps her clients to develop career pathways in order to be successful in whatever industry they pursue. Looking to the future Kegan is working towards certification in Instructional Design and Technology.
